Eng. Abdul Nasser Al-Abdul Latif Appointed as Deputy to the Chairman of the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code

Members of the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code have elected Engineer Abdul Nasser bin Saif Al-Abdul Latif, Secretary General of the Saudi Engineers Authority, as the Deputy to the Chairman of the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code, Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Qasabi, Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization. This decision was made during a meeting held remotely on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, corresponding to Safar 11, 1445 AH, with the participation of committee members chaired by the Chairman of the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code.

Engineer Abdul Nasser Al-Abdul Latif was selected as the Deputy to the Chairman by the 16 committee members representing various government ministries, Saudi universities, regulatory bodies, and the private sector.

Engineer Abdul Nasser has gained substantial experience concerning the Saudi Building Code after representing the Saudi Engineers Authority in the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code. This followed the Cabinet's decision to transfer the committee's affiliation and restructure it under the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization, reforming it with representatives from various ministries, universities, regulatory bodies, and the private sector on the 3rd of Dhul-Qi'dah, 1436 AH, corresponding to August 18, 2015. Since then, the Saudi Engineers Authority has been a member of the committee, with Engineer Al-Abdul Latif representing the Authority.

Currently, Engineer Abdul Nasser Al-Abdul Latif serves as the Secretary General of the Saudi Engineers Authority, having progressed through several positions within the Authority, including General Director of the General Administration for Business Development and Beneficiary Services, General Director of the General Administration for Engineering Services, and spokesperson for the Authority.

He has also represented the Authority in several advisory committees at the Council of Ministers to develop the engineering sector and has been a member of technical advisory teams for major government projects. Additionally, he has chaired committees organizing a series of international engineering conferences.

Before joining the Authority, he served as the Projects Manager at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, overseeing more than 120 projects across various regions of the Kingdom. He also managed the housing project at King Saud University in Riyadh and worked as an architectural engineer at the Riyadh Municipality.

Engineer Abdul Nasser bin Saif Al-Abdul Latif holds membership in several organizations and committees, including the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code, the Supreme Supervisory Committee for Localization, the Supreme Committee for Developing the Contracting Sector, the Supervisory Committee for Localization at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, the Arab Engineers Union, the Charity Association for Engineering Services, the Saudi Association for Urban Sciences, and the Supreme Committee overseeing the development of the holy sites' timing and rituals.

It is noteworthy that the National Committee was formed under Article (5) of the General Plan for the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code, issued by Cabinet Decision No. (174) on June 15, 1422 AH. The committee includes representatives from several entities, including the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services, the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Energy, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, the Saudi Engineers Authority, the Saudi Geological Survey, as well as four specialists from Saudi universities and a member from the private sector nominated by the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
