Origin of the Authority:
Officials and engineers in the Kingdom have sensed the necessity of having a body concerned with the engineering profession and working to create appropriate conditions for its development. The idea was put forward in the first symposium for developing the engineering profession in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, organized by the College of Engineering at King Saud University, on: (4/23/1398 AH), corresponding to: (1/4/1978 AD) Then the idea was re-discussed in the second symposium held under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce on: (4/25/1400 AH), corresponding to 1980: (12/11/1980 AD), and the Engineering Committee came into existence after the third symposium of Saudi engineers, which was held in the city of Riyadh in the period from: (14-15/8/1402 AH), where His Excellency the Minister of Commerce issued Decision No. (264) dated (9/16/1402 AH), forming the Engineering Advisory Committee.
On 9/13/1423 AH, the esteemed Council of Ministers, headed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, issued approval to approve the project of the Saudi Council of Engineers after reviewing the transaction received from the Office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers No. /25225/7 R, And date: (12/13/1421 AH), containing the letter of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce No. (11/2136) and the date: (10/9/1412 AH) Attached is the draft system of the Saudi Council of Engineers, after reviewing minutes No. 398 and the date: (9/18/1422 AH) and No. (210) and date: (5/28/1423 AH), prepared by the Council of Ministers' Committee of Experts. After considering the Shura Council Resolution No. (46/48) dated: (10/19/1421 AH), after reviewing the recommendation of the General Committee of the Council of Ministers No. (431) dated: (8/22/1423 AH).
