"SCE": HISTORY OF GIVING, ACHIEVING ENGINEERING GLORY THAT KEEPS PACE WITH CHANGES AND FULFILLS AMBITIONS

The future of the country depends on engineering. Efforts are made by SCE throughout the year in laying its foundation and fulfilling its roles to achieve an international and regional reputation for the country, it has achieved digital transformation, performance development, and work-nationalization expansion. 

 

The council is working during its 6th board of directors' session according to a strategic vision that aims to career advancement and to enable engineers and engineering facilities to acquire optimal solutions, to improve the performance, and to encourage creativity and innovation in order to achieve an international reputation.

 

 The Expansion of Work-Nationalization

The SCE consultation with several authorities has contributed to a decision made by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development to nationalize the engineering profession by 20% in the private sectors. This comes as a result of the council's efforts and dedication to develop the engineering sector with qualified national engineering cadres. However, this decision must reflect in increasing the employment opportunities and recruiting approximately 7,000 engineers over the next year of 2021.  

 

Continuous Performance

SCE has continued to play its professional role to keep up with aspirations and achievements, it worked to provide 12 various initiatives and 200,000 online services. It has also enhanced communication with members online through many channels and provided all its services online through electronic platforms on a 24-hour basis.

The council had processed over 61000 electronic procedures, it has intensified and processed the delivery orders, the certificates and the membership card in the council through delivery applications. The number of requests reached more than 2340 requests. It has also issued licenses, certificates, and letters online, and more than 39,736 of certificates and letters were printed.

Unlimited Support

The SCE has performed its national duty by postponing the subscription fees of the engineering offices and companies for 6 months. Therefore, over 632 offices have benefited from this postponement. It also extended the membership of the individuals and the licenses of the engineering offices and companies for 5 months. Thus, over 81824 members have benefited from it.

 

Online professionals

Depending on the digital transformation that the council has witnessed, SCE conducted the first online professional examination for 130 engineers from Saudi Aramco being the first of its kind in implementing the council examinations. Applicants took the examination in two periods, the first one was a general examination it lasted for 3 hours starting from 9 AM to 12 PM and immediately followed by the second period which was a specialized examination that lasted for 3 hours.  

 

Continuous Training

The SCE continued its efforts in professional development through providing training courses which include various sectors. It also launched various types of training packages such as general and specialized courses in cooperation with "Grundfos" and the national committee for the Saudi Building Code.

The SCE has successfully managed to perform more than 200 training courses in various parts of the kingdom. The training courses included 35 sponsored courses, 87 specialized courses, 8 building code courses, and 6 courses about engineering arbitration program.    

 

60.000 hours of volunteering

The volunteering initiative that was provided by the council in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipals and Rural Affairs has succeeded, as 3,000 volunteers from the council have inspected the registered buildings under the initiative of assessing the worker's housing. the initiative has provided an additional appropriate residence that accommodate more than 452,636 workers in the kingdom.    

   

Launching digital platforms

The council launched two platforms of "Tiqan" in addition to an online training platform to meet its members' and clients' needs. "Tiqan" aims to enable the engineering companies and offices to increase the number of their clients using the latest technology. "Tiqan" provides many services and advantages that underline the abilities of the engineering companies and offices on the hour, it has contributed to connect the engineering services and individual clients with governmental or private sector companies and authorities.

The SCE is providing an online training platform to its members through its smart learning program "LMS" to keep pace with the development and changes. It also aims to have an interactive training environment through its electronic media. The platform allows as many members as possible to get appropriate training and to reduce the education cost in the long term as well as to spread the self-training concept which helps to enhance the trainers' capabilities at the lowest cost.
