SCE, Project Management Institute sign MOU

The Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Project Management Institute, a subsidiary in Saudi Arabia, in order to effectively promote and enhance the strategic partnership and to integrate their joint efforts to achieve the vision and policy of the both entities and their future aspiration. The MOU was signed at the SCE headquarters in Dammam, Eastern Region.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Council of Engineers H.E. Dr. Jamil Al-Baqawi said that the MOU represents a general cooperation framework between both parties with a view to setting joint objectives and fields of cooperation. The MOU is a social, scientific, knowledge, technical, cultural and advisory partnership between the SCE and the institute through the joint objectives, mainly raising the efficiency and degree of rehabilitation of project management staff, who are members of the SCE, by holding specialized and accredited training courses at cheap cost, spread knowledge in the field of project management, develop a mechanism to link the project managers in the SCE through channels of professional development at the local and global level via taking part in the professional activities in the Kingdom and abroad. He added that the domains of cooperation, under the Memorandum, include holding training courses, research, studies, preparing statistics and reports, cooperating in developing and adopting a mechanism for approving standards, improving and developing joint activities, and raising awareness by coordinating efforts in organizing joint workshops.
Dr. Al-Baqawi stressed that this MOU is meant to create an integrated environment for developing the professional project management and put it on the global map of events related to this profession.
For her part, Chairwomen of the Project Management Institute, Eng. / Nabila Tunisi, said that the Institute seeks to promote and upgrade the Saudi Engineering Thought to reach the global level in order to benefit through exchange of ideas and world experts to promote and be compatible with the Saudi vision 2030.
She added that the Institute also seeks to provide training and lessons in the field of projects in order to benefit from the recent developments in this area instead of imitation and dependence attempts, along with giving Saudi Engineers an opportunity to penetrate the fields of international projects and present their creative ideas and take advantage of experiences of others and their studies in accordance with an institutional systematic framework, rather than random or improvisational ways under the umbrella of an organization, which has a prestigious international standing and is respected by all international bodies concerned with the field of engineering and its studies.
