17 August, 2017 date_range The technical skills of fresh-graduate engineers Share Share Share Print Copy Link Page Image Image Caption Page ContentYanbu Industrial College was concluded the Industrial and Behavioral Skills Development Program for fresh-graduate engineers, which was held in Yanbu Industrial City for two months, it included engineering specialties such as electrical, chemical, mechanical and industrial engineering, as well as allocating certain hours to strengthen the English of the engineers with the involvement of 120 fresh-graduate engineers, who were fully supported by the Saudi Council of Engineers.The program based on theoretical and practical aspects, in addition to holding a number of meetings and courses to develop the behavioral skills, and visits to engineering companies and factories to take a closer look at how to work in them.The program aims to develop the fresh-graduate engineers and qualifying them well for the competitive entry into the engineering work market, and develop the theoretical skills they gained during study, through training in equipment used in various engineering specialties.The designated Secretary-General, Eng. Sulaiman bin Ibrahim Al-Amoud, expressed his pleasure at the success of the program for the second year in a row and the addition he gave to fresh-graduate engineers pointing out that the development of Saudi engineers in their various specialties and segments is one of the key objectives of the Council at its current course, believing that human resources development in the engineering fields has a vital importance in providing a generation of trained professional cadres of engineers and guide them to serve development. The Council has developed its second strategy to "upgrade the capacities of engineers and technicians by adopting training and qualification curricula at the national level that enable them to the effective professional practice, The Council make its plans to implement this strategy, including setting bases and rules to calculate the training hours for the professional accreditation and promotion from a professional degree to another and to adopt a training record for all engineers, as well as working with government and private training bodies and universities to develop certified training programs for all specialties and professional engineering levels and to be evaluated according to specific standards and continuously developed in the light of technical developments and labor market needs. Where engineering projects need integrated and concerted efforts, the Council hopes to support them to create a combination between the outputs of the engineering education and the requirements of the labor market, which requires not only traditional practical skills, but also advanced skills in the ability of the engineer to think creatively, analysis and solve problems, understand and develop the modern technology and the ability to self-education and interaction with the community's needs. As the rapid cognitive variables in the engineering sciences make it difficult for practitioners to remain experts in their field of work without being aware of the developments.
